“This presentation will highlight how language can shape the response to child abuse and sexual assault and our community’s understanding of these issues. Using examples from the media and court records, participants will learn categories of language to avoid and be offered alternatives to describe child abuse and sexual assault in a way that more accurately describes these issues and how to more accurately describe the victim’s perspective and experience and strategize ways to use accountable language choices.”
